Personal commissions are any illustrations that are intended to be used by the client in a non-commercial way. An example of this would be commissioned original artwork for your wall or as a present for your friend or family.

Here are some examples of previous personal commissions I have illustrated for clients:

Personal Commissions

If you think my illustrations would be well suited to your personal commission I’d love to hear from you!

Please complete my Personal Commission Questionnaire to give me more of an idea of what you would like for your commission. Your responses will go directly to my email inbox and I will get back to you quickly. Please see below for information about the process of commissioning me and my pricing.

Please also feel free to reach out to me via email if you have any questions hello@kateosmondillustration.com

If you are wondering how commissioning me normally works, here’s a quick explainer:

STAGE 1 - First Contact

Firstly, thank you so much for contacting me about your commission!

At this stage, I will be trying to understand exactly what commission you have in mind.

It’s always helpful to provide as much detail as possible when first contacting me. For this reason, I have prepared a Personal Commission Questionnaire that asks a range of questions about your idea.

Once you have submitted your responses, they will be sent directly to my email inbox. I’ll get back to you quickly!

STAGE 2 - Contract Agreement

When I have a clear understanding of your commission and we have agreed a fee, timeline and terms, I will produce a contract for us both to sign.

Once the contract is signed, the project is ready to go!

(If you need to adjust anything on the contract once the project has started, this may incur an extra fee.)

STAGE 3 - Drafts & Amends

At this stage, I will produce a pre-agreed number of draft illustration ideas for you to review. I normally sketch out each draft in pencil with a colour palette suggestion, but if you have something else in mind please specify this during the first stage.

Once you have reviewed the drafts, if you want me to make any changes, this stage will include time for a pre-agreed number of rounds of amends.

The aim of this stage is to produce a draft(s) that you are happy with!

Please see below for example draft illustrations!

STAGE 4 - Final Illustrations

I will send over the final illustration(s) by our agreed deadline.

Making small changes at this stage may be possible if we have agreed this beforehand, but this will also depend on the nature of your commission. For example, if the commission is a digital file, making edits will be easier than changing a physical painting.

I’m very happy to answer any questions about this process. Don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Pricing for Personal Commissions

My prices for personal commissions are based on the time it will take me to illustrate the commission and the amount of drafts required. I base my pricing on the Scottish Artist Union’s recommended rates of hourly pay.

I'm always happy to chat about pricing to find what works best for both of us!

Feel free to contact me (hello@kateosmondillustration.com) or respond to my Personal Commission Client Questionnaire.
